DESIGN FOR A NEW PIER AT DUN LAOGHAIRE, IRELAND

Designed for a commercial developer in conjunction with the Harbour Authority this new hotel and leisure/conference facility provides for stays of 1 to 4 nights. The aim is to extend use of existing facilities in this historic Regency resort by tourists travelling by ferry.

Located next to the new main ferry terminal serving Dublin a 150ft high Pharos forms a new landmark to the port from the seaward approach. Containing 52 hotel suites with double level public restaurants in the skyline globe and sea level drum it will have spectacular views across Irelands western coastline and Dublin Bay.

A new link to the existing town centre is created with a Piazza incorporating an existing park with connections to a pier railway. This connects a sequence of Leisure Pavilions and Hotel Palaces supported on  gantries with a jettied walkway all reminiscent of seaside piers.

The total provision is 166 Hotel rooms and suites. Facilities will include retail, bars, restaurants and galleries. The local connection with the sea will be enhanced with accommodation for a maritime museum and additional moorings for the nearby yacht clubs.
