The Architectural Journal has reported on the current campaign to set up a new, European school of classical architecture. The scheme, supported by Robert Adam, is being led by three major groups; The International Network for Traditional Building, the Foundation for Urban Renewal and the Princes Foundation. The impetus of the campaign is to fight the prejudice against students who want to study traditional architecture and urbanism in today's architectural education system. The Modern Movement, has come to dominate the architectural profession and is still espoused by an overwhelming majority of the profession and architecture schools. As a result, students wishing to pursue traditional architecture have often come up against insurmountable obstacles. The school aims to combat this trend, promoting not just traditional and vernacular architecture, but also traditional urban design principles, which are fast becoming recognised as valuable tools in creating new built environments.
