This new hotel will be built on a prime site in Beirut Central District, the new area reconstructed out of land destroyed in the Lebanese civil war. It will be a ‘Five Star Plus’ hotel with views over a new central park to the Mediterranean, luxury rooms, presidential apartments and imposing public rooms. The new building will be a landmark and social destination in the revival of the “Switzerland of the East”.
Major Lebanese business interests and one of the world’s principal hoteliers commissioned the project. Robert Adam Architects worked in close cooperation with major international hotel franchises and hotel consultants. The objective was to create a high quality building with enough presence to command its site while remaining within the strict design controls of the new district.
The design was prepared with a Lebanese firm, Dagher Architects. Robert Adam Architects undertook extensive research into traditional Lebanese and Ottoman architecture to create a new building that maintained the local character while responding to modern needs. This will be an important contribution to the re-birth of one of the world’s most beautiful commercial centres.
