The remodelling of Delaford Park is the latest of a succession of changes to this historic village site. The 18th Century house, which burnt down in the early twentieth century, was rebuilt in the 1960’s and last extended in 1982. It is a significant building within the village, located adjacent to the church. The design proposals restore its status in the historic structure of the village.
The design refaces the existing 1960’s dwelling and creates a Greek Revival design. The existing roof and steel structural frame are retained and reclad with two storey brick columns with smaller stone columns inset around the windows. The off-centre entrance is emphasised with a tower, which houses a new stair. The alterations include significant internal remodelling of the principal rooms, the swimming pool and the creation of a new cantilevered stone staircase.
The house was completed in 2004.
