NEW HOUSE
Laggan House, Inverness, Scotland

Laggan House is a simple new house in the Scottish tradition constructed by a building developer for his own use. It is built on a rural site with fine views to the south and has harling (or rough-cast render) walls in two colours under a natural slate roof. The pediment and porch are in natural stone. The classical features are represented by the simplest details, with elaboration limited to a few selected elements.

The interior has 170 m² of floorspace and includes 3 bedrooms, a drawing room, a dining room, a sitting room and a large kitchen. Extensive outbuildings include a garage, carport, workshop and veranda. The owners made a major contribution to the development of the design during a concentrated two day initial design session.
